End of a Beautiful Era... [For Now]

Here's the good news. I have some tracks for you. Here's the bad news. Before the tracks, I have some bad news to share.

So here is the bad news: there will be no more tracks until Friday 3rd October. That's in five days time. I know it's sad and feels like the end of an era, but don't worry, I shall return then.

Actually, on second thoughts there is another piece of good news before today's post. House Music 101 is announcing a new sister blog coming in October/November time, called House Music 202. I'll reveal more about the sister site on Friday's post when I return, and explain what it's all about.

Pirates Love House Music 101... Still

A few days ago, Blogger deleted this post, but no worries, I have heard Blogger are known for having their technical issues, so here it is...again...


A tune is set to be one of the biggest of the season now as we move into the Winter house season. It's only 6 months to go until the launch of Winter Music Conference 2009, but oddly only 2 months until the actual Winter season - don't ask why the WMC is in March every year, it just is.

Where Do Lonely Bloggers Go?

I have an official announcement to make: there are no good tracks out there. I cannot find any, which is why I took this occasion as a sign. A sign we needed more variety on the blog, so I introduce to you, the Essential Mix Package. Every while, I shall post some excellent Essential Mixes (you know, from BBC Radio 1, the show fronted by Pete Tong), as well as other DJ mixes from the wide world out there. Now appreciate that they are mixes of between one and three hours long, so don't be amazed if they take 40 minutes to download, just go with it. But every link I post here, I will have downloaded the mix myself, so there are no viruses and I can only repost quality mixes. Without further ado...

Episode 09 - The Comedown Mix

The next series of tracks for the podcast is slightly mellower than usual, as the podcast description will explain, however, I have kept the usual deep house and electro tune in there somewhere...



PODCAST DESCRIPTION:
You subscribers deserve an internet hug *internet hug* for what you have done. I know I am not exactly the best DJ and that my podcast doesn’t bring in all the listeners, but the figures are higher than ever still, and are closely rivalling my previous podcast, which was actually, as much as I hate to blow my own trumpet, quite successful. This is all thanks to you, so muchas gracias subscribers and newcomers, enjoy the show. I thought that I should post November's mix now because I am most likely to get into the habit of forgetting to update.

Today’s mix is called the comedown mix because really it started off with tunes that are perfect for your return after a night clubbing. When you’ve just got back after a night out (provided you’re alone ;p) there’s nothing better to loosen up to a bit of chill out dance, and the first few tracks are just perfect for that. However, my mixes sort of go off track whenever I try and stick to a theme, so there’s a tiny bit of electro and some deep house in there too, but mostly it’s chill out Ibiza zone.

A nice new track from ErickE, and it's long awaited. We haven't really heard much from him since "The Beat Is Rockin"

Wiley - Summertime (Alex Gaudino Remix)
Wiley's back with the new anthem "Summertime" and this is quite a gorgeous remix, although speaking honestly I'd say you either love it or you hate it

Deadmau5 - Bye Friend
I wasn't all that keen on Deadmau5 not so long ago, but "Fifths" and "Hi Friend" really turned that around. I'm not very keen on this track however, but comment on it here please, I like to hear your thoughts.

Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl (Joaquin Phunk and JD Smith bangin Bootleg)
There have been hundreds of remixes of "I Kissed A Girl" going around, and I like this one.

The Top 50 DJ List

If you are looking to download some new tracks, why not check out the latest releases from all of the artists in my list below, or indeed check them out if you haven't heard of them before. I have compiled this list as the best 50 DJs in my opinion.

The Top 5

1. Fedde Le Grand - hit after hit, DJ Fedde has constantly pleased the music scene, with masterpieces including "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit", "The Creeps" (featuring Camille Jones) and "Let Me Think About It" (featuring Ida Corr). Expect many a more hits from this man
2. Pete Tong - one of the few good DJs England produces, this legendary DJ presents a weekly progressive house music show on BBC Radio 1 to start our weekends. He has created some neat tracks as well as many excellent remixes
3. Joachim Garraud - now I know not many people would rank Garraud this highly, but he is one of my favourite DJs around, not only does he constantly provide us with fantastic remixes, but also produces many gorgeous dirty tracks
4. David Guetta - anyone who doesn't like this DJ's music is crazy, David Guetta does the whole spectrum, from dance to techno to electro to house, why wouldn't you enjoy his stuff?
5. Axwell - the biggest tune of the year in my opinion was Axwell & Bob Sinclar's "What A Wonderful World" and I cannot stop listening to it, but with many other hits including "I Found U" and "Feel The Vibe", this DJ is purely amazing

Ranks 6 - 10
6.) In sixth place is Laidback Luke who is without a single doubt in the world the best remixer around, checkout any song big in the club scene at the moment and he'll have remixed it...and beautifully at that
7.) In seventh place is Steve Angello, who let's face it is rarely seen apart from Ingrosso, coming up anytime soon, and I'll be honest I prefer this guy's tracks to his remixes
8.) Next up is Sebastien Ingrosso, who famously expresses anger towards people who spell his name Sebastian, it's with an 'e' damn it
9.) Following Angello and Ingrosso, it can only be the legend of Dirty South, some dirty electro mash-ups of tracks are done by Dirty South, and they never fail to please. Plus, I would rank "The End" and "Let It Go" (both by DS) in my top 10 tracks of the year so far
10.) Finally for this section, it's Bob Sinclar, who has moved on from dance this year. Some classic dance anthems we won't forget include "World Hold On" and "Rock This Party" but his recent house smash with Axwell featuring Ron Carroll with "What A Wonderful World" was house heaven, along with his team up with Fireball for "What I Want" earlier this year
